Recipe

1 package Firehouse #10 Chili Mix
1 green pepper, chopped
1 large onion, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1-1/2 T oil
1 28-oz can diced tomatoes
Spice Packet (included)
Salt and Pepper to taste
*Optional: 1 lb ground beef or turkey

Remove spice packet. Wash and drain beans. Soak beans overnight or microwave beans covered with water in a covered dish at 100% power for 15 minutes. Drain and rinse. Place beans in a 4-quart pot with enough water to cover beans. Bring to a boil, then simmer covered 1 to 1 ½ hours, or until beans are tender. If using, brown ground beef or turkey and drain. Saute onion, garlic, green pepper, and spices in oil until tender. Add vegetable mixture and tomatoes to beans. Simmer covered for an additional 1 ½ hour.

Cooking time may be longer at high altitudes.
