My WBP Story – Heaven

My life was saved once I was sentenced to community corrections.  I am now 24 and well into my recovery after battling an 11 year addiction to meth.  I had hit rock bottom several times but that didn’t change my attitude.

The streets of Denver had been my home for nearly five years and trying to maintain a job due to my addiction was nearly impossible.
It was during my time in a community corrections facility that I learned about Women’s Bean Project.  When I came to the Bean Project I quickly began to realize just how much it would help me.

Right away I started to find new confidence in myself and in my new job skills. Since the start of my employment my future looks brighter than ever.  I have goals; I want to go back to school to become a certified addictions counselor.

I want to make a difference in the lives of troubled youth.  Being proud of myself is also a new feeling for me.  Even with all the trauma that I have suffered in my life I am able to maintain an optimistic personality and have a great sense of humor and that makes me proud.
