Recipe Notes

Crockpot Directions:
Rinse and soak the beans as instructed in the recipe, then put into the crockpot in the morning on low heat with the spices, beans, water and optional ingredients. Don’t add the tomatoes until later as they slow down the cooking. Cook on low/slow all day, checking the liquid level occasionally. Add additional water as needed. By the evening the beans should be soft enough that you can add the tomatoes and prepare for eating.

Instant Pot Directions:
If using chopped veggies turn your Instant Pot on Saute and wait until it’s hot (about a minute), then saute your veggies until soft, 3-5 minutes. Add garlic and spice packet from box and saute until spices are fragrant (about a minute). While you are sauteing you should rinse your beans. Add your rinsed beans, 6 cups of water or broth, and can of tomatoes to the Instant Pot, then push cancel and lock the lid in place. Make sure the seal is closed and then press the Manual or Pressure Cook button. Choose 40 minutes and press Start. Once the cooking has finished let sit for 20 minutes to naturally release, then open the seal for a quick release. Open the lid once the steam has fully release and enjoy!

Delicious! I made this in the crock pot.
My additions: A mix of chicken broth and water (mostly chicken broth), two sticks of celery, half a large onion, about a tablespoon of chopped garlic, a smoked ham shank because I couldn't find a ham hock, a can of hot Rotel (gonna add more next time – I like it spicy), half a teaspoon of kosher salt, and a teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper.
It far exceeded my expectations! I've tried a bunch of bean soup mixes and this is by far the best one. The Project behind the bean soup mix makes it even better. Thanks for what you do! I'll certainly be buying this again and spreading the message.

Just ate this bean soup… YUM!! I would live to know what’s in the spice mix.

My husband and I keep talking about how great this soup was. Neither of us ever had a 10 bean soup before so going in blind we didnt know what to expect. If you are curious about this soup just try it! You'll be loving it I'm sure I just like we did.

Added extra garlic and onion. Great Soup. Going to buy more now.

I have made this with ground turkey breast and also shredded chicken breast, adding sliced carrots and chopped onion. It's delicious!

The fresh spice packet is great and adds a depth I didn't quite expect. I also added leftover holiday ham with carrots and onion.

I added a pound of browned ground beef broken down into small pieces, one medium white onion chopped & sweated, and cayenne powder. It is basically chili…it tastes GREAT!

Good Product

Great bean soup! I used the instant pot method, cooked for 20 minutes, released the steam, added diced butternut squash and kale, cooked for 15 minutes more, and then naturally released for 20 minutes. Turned out perfectly.

Some of the best soup ever

This recipe is so good! With an instant pot you don't even have to soak the beans and you get a flavorful soup in about an hour!! I would definitely recommend this hearty soup to any bean lovers.
