I am Women’s Bean Project: Renee

I’m Renee, a recovering woman with low self-esteem. I became involved with the Women’s Bean Project in 2018. At that time, I was in the Miracle’s program for alcohol addiction and a friend told me about Women’s Bean Project, saying it was right up my alley. She was very correct. The Women’s Bean Project has shown me that people still care in this world. I have enjoyed earning my own money through assembly work and growing as a person from the classes that are offered. The Bean has given me unbelievable self-esteem, which is what I’ve been looking for. My main goal is to stay sober from mind altering drugs since I have come so far since that time. I want to keep learning computer skills and seek a fast-paced job that pays well. When I was going through recovery, I moved in with my father, and we have mutually supported each other through it all. Thinking about caring for my father, I have thought about taking care of the elderly and becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) again after the Bean. I also think about my love for animals and maybe pursuing a career with animals. I surely am grateful for the Women’s Bean Project and wish it could last forever.
