Butterscotch Cream Scones Recipe

This is a variation of our basic scone recipe, adding butterscotch chips (or chocolate chips if you prefer, try both!) to the dough creates a decadent scone that pairs great with black tea or coffee.

  • 1 package Cream Scone Mix
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 stick butter
  • 11 oz. heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup butterscotch (or chocolate) chips (find in the baking aisle)

This is a variation of our basic scone recipe, adding butterscotch chips (or chocolate chips if you prefer, try both!) to the dough creates a decadent scone that pairs great with black tea or coffee.

Instructions

  1. Pour dry mix into mixing bowl and whisk to blend ingredients.
  2. Cut 1 stick of cold butter into small pieces and blend into the dry mix with your fingers until mix is crumbly.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together 11 oz. of heavy cream and two eggs.
  4. Stir cream mixture into dry ingredients until just combined. The dough will not be overly sticky. Stir in butterscotch (or chocolate) chips until mixed in equality.
  5. Form dough on a floured board and flatten to 1 inch thickness.
  6. Cut scones using a 2 1/2 inch biscuit cutter.
  7. Place scones on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 15-18 minutes until light golden brown.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes, Serve with butter, jam or your favorite toppings.
